What is a podcast?
A podcast is an audio file, typically an MP3 file, available online for downloading via an automatic "feed." You can then hear the podcast whenever you want from your computer or a portable media player.
What do I need to hear podcasts?
The first thing you need is podcast subscription software, such as Apple's iTunes to manage your podcast subscriptions. Download iTunes for free.
Once you have iTunes installed, you will be able to listen to a podcast from your computer. If you want to also make your podcasts portable, you will need to transfer them from your computer to a portable media device, such as an iPod or MP3 player.
How do I subscribe to a podcast?
Click on the iTunes button or copy and past the URL into another podcasting tool. Once you have clicked the subscribed button in iTunes, each time you open iTunes, all new episodes of the podcast will automatically download to your computer.
And if you have an iPod and you subscribe, every time you sync it to iTunes on your computer, the podcast will be downloaded for listening on the go.
