2009 TOPICS IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE
June 25-26, 2009
Keynote speaker: Barry Prizant will present The SCERTS model: A comprehensive, team-based approach to educating children with ASD.
Co-Sponsored by the Hattie Larlham Foundation
Individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) present with a wide variety of strengths and needs. Within the context of a behavioral approach to intervention, parents, educators, and other professionals can develop and enhance positive academic and behavioral skills while simultaneously addressing disruptive behaviors. There exist a variety of behavioral approaches that have proven effective in enhancing the everyday functioning of individuals with ASD across the lifespan. When implemented with fidelity, and continuously monitored for their impact on behavior change, behavioral interventions support the development of individualized programming for individuals with ASD.
