Differentiated instruction is a broad term referring to a variety of classroom
practices that accommodate differences in students’ learning styles, interests, prior knowledge, socialization needs and comfort zones.
Ohio’s academic standards emphasize what students need to know; differentiated instruction helps the students get there, while at the same time teaching them how to learn in meaningful ways.
The option to earn one graduate credit hour is available upon completion of
all four programs. For more information contact Kathy Brown at 330-672-0537 or kbrown5@kent.edu.
These programs are designed to provide an orientation to the theory, concepts
and practices involved in differentiating curriculum and instruction.
- Program 1: Differentiation Defined and Creating a Climate for Learning
- Program 2: Knowing and Assessing the Learner
- Program 3: Strategies and Tools
